I. INTRODUCTION
We live in bubbles, surrounded by individuals who share our preferences—how we live, how we look, how educated we are, how we perceive the world, and how we feel about others.We notice a lack of empathy and compassion, which lies at the root of many societal issues.
II. WHY LACK OF EMPATHY IS ROOT CAUSE OF ALL EVILS?
Zero empathy can exist alongside harmful actions, yet the individuals responsible may not be held accountable.
Those who lack empathy make other people suffer, while those who exhibit great empathy suffer alone.
"Zero-negatives” refers to individuals with certain pathological traits, such as those with borderline personality disorder or antisocial tendencies.
We are very well aware of the fact that men have higher levels of testosterone than women. We may be surprised to know that men score lower on empathy than women. So, we see that there is a clear hormonal link to empathy. On the other hand, “zero-positives” may describe individuals with certain syndromes who are drawn to patterns, regularity, and consistency.
We are aware that men have higher levels of testosterone than women. The fact that men score lower on empathy than women may surprise us. Thus, it is quite visible that #empathy and hormones are related.
First, while empathy is, in my opinion, unavoidable, it should be initiated.
With a very broad scope, science is starting its quest to determine why some people are less empathetic than others. The hallmark of a civilized society is our attempt to comprehend the behavior of others, which leads to the dilemma of whether someone who commits a horrible crime ought to be imprisoned rather than sent to the hospital.
III.Why is it important to develop empathy :
Maintain better Relationships: Empathy helps to build maintain relationships and gain confidence over all co-workers, seniors, family , friends and clients.
Increasing EQ: By increasing empathy, we can become more self-aware, and able to let go of this beyond control
3.Encourage Compassion and lessen pain: Compassion is fueled by empathy. We become more inclined to do better for the society, and lessen the pain of others.
4.Creating a more harmonious society: We can create a better society as we become more conscious and aware of the difficulties faced by members of oppressed or marginalized populations to bring more social justice.
IV.8 strategies to develop Empathy
Go beyond your comfort zone: When you travel, explore new locations, revisit old ones, and relish the challenges that arise to strengthen your resilience.
Take criticism, accept it, and work to do better.
3. Develop your curiosity: It will enable you to learn new things, follow people from various genres, and discover what fascinates them.
4.Analyze your prejudices and make an effort to overcome them by fostering tolerance and getting rid of preconceptions.
5.Put yourself in other people's situations, cultivate connections, and maintain a robust network.
6.Avoid reading disrespectful content
7. Read Widely to recognize unity between nations
8. Understand the causes : Understand the causes and fight for them joining a common cause
V. HOW TO DEAL PEOPLE WITH A LACK OF EMPATHY?
Dealing with those who lack, particularly if you are a sensitive and loving person, can be challenging.
We can take the following actions.
They don't have feelings, so don't take their criticism or rage personally. It's also frequently difficult to make things understandable.
Discuss the facts with them to have a good understanding of their character; make an effort to speak clearly.
Avoid surrounding yourself with people who put you down.
It is important to construct a strong connection and cultivate relationships with people who trust you. We must act in a loving manner and take care of our self-image. Eat well, work out, and practice meditation.
VI. DEVELOPING EMPATHY IN CHILDREN
Children often behave and respond how they see their parents behave. This is indeed a very complex skill to master. If the child is able to empathize , he/ she will demonstrate that
He /She Comprehends the fact that he is a distinct individual, his own person;
He has different thoughts and feelings than others;
the common feelings that most people experience—sadness, happiness, sorrow, joy, and sympathy;
Is able to view a particular situation (such as watching a peer say goodbye to a parent at child care) and imagine how he—and therefore his friend—might feel in this moment; and
Can you think of a suitable or consoling reaction in that specific circumstance, such handing his companion a teddy bear, storybook, or favorite toy to console her?
VII. Final Thoughts: Empathy is how we are able to connect between each other as individuals. An empathetic person can create opportunities for others, build a resilient team at workplace and overcome the challenges by developing his /her own perception about others, by appreciating others.
